If you have orthodontic issues with your teeth but think you're too old for braces, you need to think again. You're never too old for adult braces. In fact, right now is a great time to have your teeth straightened. With so many different options available, your orthodontist will be able to provide the right treatment to restore your teeth. Here are just a few tips that will help you avoid minor issues that can be associated with braces.
Keep Orthodontic Wax on Hand
If you're going to be wearing braces, it's important that you keep plenty of orthodontic wax on hand. When you're wearing braces, the metal brackets can rub up against the tissue inside your mouth when you talk or chew. The constant rubbing can lead to painful sores inside your mouth. Unfortunately, as an adult, you do a lot of talking, especially if you have a career that requires it. The application of orthodontic wax to the surface of the braces helps them glide smoothly across the delicate tissue in your mouth, preventing cuts and sores. To protect your mouth, keep orthodontic wax on hand at all times.
Watch What You Eat at Lunch
If you go out to lunch with colleagues on a regular basis, you'll need to watch what you eat. Certain foods can get stuck in between your braces, which can lead to embarrassing moments. Two of the biggest culprits are bread and broccoli. Bread, including bagels and hamburger buns, can get gummy when you chew them. When that happens, you can end up small particles of bread dough stuck on the brackets of your braces. Broccoli can leave small green specks on your braces. Avoid the embarrassment by choosing different foods for your lunch. It's also a good idea to carry an interproximal brush with you at lunch. That way, you can excuse yourself to the restroom to clean between the brackets of your braces.
Avoid Drinking Dark Beverages
There's nothing worse than trying to deal with stains on your teeth, especially when you wear braces. Removing stains from your teeth isn't an easy task when you wear braces. The last thing you want is to show up at work with dark stains on your teeth. One way to avoid that problem is to avoid drinking dark beverages during your orthodontic treatment.
Choose Invisible Braces
If you want to straighten your teeth, but you don't want to do watch what you eat or drink during treatment, talk to your dentist about Invisalign braces. These braces straighten your teeth through a system of plastic mouth aligners. One of the main advantages of the braces is that you can remove them during mealtime, which eliminate the worry over what you're eating and drinking.Share

Hi, my name is Kevin Nelson and I want to tell you about my experience. I had a painful tooth so I went to see my dentist. After the examination, he said that I needed to have a root canal to save the tooth. I told the dentist to just pull the tooth instead and then he explained why that wasn't a good idea. He said that pulling the tooth would cause additional problems and then he told me what could happen. I didn't want any more problems, so the dentist did the root canal and I'm glad that he did. I wanted to write a blog to tell others about the benefits of a root canal and what to expect during the procedure. I hope that by getting the word out, other people won't make the same mistake that I almost did by getting a perfectly good tooth pulled.
