3 Common Problems With Invisalign Braces And What You Can Do About Them

Dentist Blog

Invisalign braces come with many advantages, but there are some downsides. Fortunately, most of those are easily corrected at home or in your dentist's office. If you are considering Invisalign braces or already have them, here are some common problems and what can be done to fix them.

Discolored Invisalign Braces

If you are a smoker, you might notice that the Invisalign tray appears to be discolored or yellowed after a period of time. The possible discoloration is one of the reasons that wearers are discouraged from smoking. If the damage has already been done, there is nothing to do to reverse it. However, there is a silver lining.

You are tasked with changing your Invisalign trays as your teeth start to move. When you receive your trays, the dentist informs you exactly when to switch to the next tray. It could be as little as two weeks and you can then switch to a new tray that is not discolored. In the future though, be careful to not smoke.

Food and Debris Trapped in the Braces

Food and other debris can easily become trapped beneath your Invisalign trays. This can be a source of discomfort for you. To avoid this, it is important that you remove your tray before you start eating or drinking. After you finish, brush your teeth before returning the tray. Brushing your teeth helps to ensure that you remove debris, such as sugar, that could be damaging to your teeth.

Little or No Progress

If your complaint is that you are seeing little or no progress while wearing the Invisalign trays, it is time to assess how well you are following your dentist's directions. You are required to wear the trays all day, with the exception of eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.

You also need to be sure to follow your dentist's directions for progressing to new trays. At specific time periods, your dentist will have you toss out the old tray and get the next one in line. If you fail to do this, your progress will slow. If you are unsure of whether or not it is time to move to the next tray, contact your dentist.

Talk to your dentist about any other problems that you are experiencing with your Invisalign braces. Most problems are easily resolved. By failing to report problems to your dentist, you can slow or stop the progress that you have made while wearing the braces.

The Reasons Why You Should Get A Root Canal

Hi, my name is Kevin Nelson and I want to tell you about my experience. I had a painful tooth so I went to see my dentist. After the examination, he said that I needed to have a root canal to save the tooth. I told the dentist to just pull the tooth instead and then he explained why that wasn't a good idea. He said that pulling the tooth would cause additional problems and then he told me what could happen. I didn't want any more problems, so the dentist did the root canal and I'm glad that he did. I wanted to write a blog to tell others about the benefits of a root canal and what to expect during the procedure. I hope that by getting the word out, other people won't make the same mistake that I almost did by getting a perfectly good tooth pulled.
