4 Great Reasons To Choose Immediate Dentures

Dentist Blog

Tooth extraction can sound alarming. You may be concerned about the pain or how you will chew after the procedure, especially if you're getting several teeth removed at once. Immediate dentures can take some of the worry off your mind. As the name suggests, same day dentures are given to you at the end of your tooth extraction procedure. There are many benefits to this approach to dentures. Here are just a few of the reasons you should opt for same day partial dentures:

1. You will have fewer dentist appointments.

You'll be able to cut down on the number of dentist appointments you need to attend by choosing same day dentures. Typical dentures are created from a mold taken once your mouth has already healed from the tooth extraction, which can take several weeks. Immediate dentures are created before your tooth extraction and the final fit is adjusted at the same appointment. You can skip one or two dentist appointments by going this route.

2. You can start getting used to your new dentures sooner.

Dentures are created to fit comfortably in your mouth but they may feel foreign at first. Even partial dentures may alter the way you chew or speak initially. The longer you wear your dentures, the more at home they will feel in your mouth. Choosing immediate dentures means you have more time to get used to them. This means you can go back to sounding like yourself even sooner.

3. You can avoid potential embarrassment.

If your need to have visible teeth extracted, their absence can create a gap in your smile. Many people find this embarrassing and may even go out of their way to avoid seeing people until they receive their dentures. Immediate dentures ensure that your smile remains unchanged. You can walk out of your dentist's office confident with your looks.

4. You can always change to a different type of denture later.

If you eventually decide that you don't like the fit of your same day dentures, you can always switch to permanent dentures instead. Your dentist will take a mold of your mouth, including the gap where your teeth were extracted; this mold will be used to custom create a new set of dentures for you. In the meantime, you can continue to use your same day dentures, and you can keep the same day dentures on hand as a backup.

The Reasons Why You Should Get A Root Canal

Hi, my name is Kevin Nelson and I want to tell you about my experience. I had a painful tooth so I went to see my dentist. After the examination, he said that I needed to have a root canal to save the tooth. I told the dentist to just pull the tooth instead and then he explained why that wasn't a good idea. He said that pulling the tooth would cause additional problems and then he told me what could happen. I didn't want any more problems, so the dentist did the root canal and I'm glad that he did. I wanted to write a blog to tell others about the benefits of a root canal and what to expect during the procedure. I hope that by getting the word out, other people won't make the same mistake that I almost did by getting a perfectly good tooth pulled.
